Digital Audio networking with Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) for consumer use in the home is the target application for Sharp’s square connectors and the round (Optical Mini Jack) connector is used in portable media players. Although the #1 application is a Set Top Box, our square connectors are also used in professional digital audio applications. The defining standard is S/PDIF (Sony/Phillips Digital InterFace) or IEC 60958.
